The Reds play on the euphoria and offensive game of Jurgen Klopp, engaged the last year October after Brendan Rodgers’ exoneration, but they did not go beyond the 4th place. It is a team that, because of its characteristics, is very efficacious while attacking but shows clear limits in the management of the match and, consequently, of the result.

GAME STYLE AND SETTING OF COMBINATION: the combination starts from one of the two central defenders, Matip or Lovren, who usually shoot long kicks towards one of the two wingbacks. The left flank is made up of A.Moreno and Coutinho, the team playmaker.
Clyne offers an excellent contribution in the often devastating boost phase: not surprisingly most actions start from the right flank. Henderson, the Reds’ captain, acts before the defense with interdiction tasks. Despite he is not a born as a defensive playmaker, he’s able to set the action thanks to the best support given by G.Wijnaldum, essential in this type of game as he plays in the midfield both as an attacker and defender. Lallana, born as wingback, is adapted as wing half and perfectly duets with Manè (arrived from the Saints in a recent transf- market session).
The opponents are often misplaced by the continuous change of position between Lallana and Manè, along the flank. Sturridge plays as striker and his continuous movements grant few reference points for the opponent defenders, also thanks to the insertions of his team-mates. Klopp’s required pressing is very high: the Liverpool players try to push more men towards the playmaker to block the passage lines and to prevent the setting of the opponents’ game, and restart in counterattack by exploiting their faster players.
In the defensive phase: when the opponents’ possession is futile, Klopp’s team closes and deploys a 4-5-1 with Coutinho and Mané both lowered on the midfielders’ line.
In the offensive phase: the combination is generally fluent and enriched by a possession that is extremely offensive and aimed at the research of insertions behind the defenders. In the maximum pressing phase, only the couple of central defenders, plus the central midfielder Henderson, remain to protect Mignolet; the remaining players constantly pursuit a gap in the opponents’area 25 meters.
In this summer transf-market, the Liverpool has purchased, for the amount of 40 million, the Egyptian player Mohammed Salah with the role of offensive wingback to boost the attack combination and to ease the goals by the wings insertions.

Si tratta di una squadra che, anche per le caratteristiche della rosa, è molto efficiente quando si tratta di attaccare ma manifesta tuttavia evidenti limiti di gestione della partita e conseguentemente del risultato.

Stile di gioco e costruzione della manovra: il gioco parte da uno dei due centrali, Matip o Lovren, che effettuano di solito lanci lunghi verso uno dei 2 esterni d’attacco. La fascia sinistra è composta da A.Moreno e da Coutinho, il fantasista della squadra. Clyne offre un eccellente contributo in fase di spinta, spesso devastante: non a caso la maggior parte delle azioni si sviluppa sulla fascia destra. Henderson, il capitano dei Reds, agisce davanti alla difesa con compiti di interdizione e, nonostante non sia un regista nato, riesce ad impostare l’azione grazie all’ottimo supporto fornitogli da G. Wijnaldum che è essenziale in questo tipo di gioco visto che a centrocampo svolge ampiamente sia la fase difensiva che quella offensiva. Lallana, nato come esterno, viene adattato a mezz’ala e fraseggia perfettamente con Manè (arrivato dai Saints nell’ultima sessione di mercato). Gli avversari sono spesso messi in difficoltà dal continuo cambio di posizione tra Lallana e Manè lungo la fascia. Sturridge agisce da prima punta e, con i suoi continui movimenti, garantisce pochi punti di riferimento per le retroguardie avversarie grazie anche agli inserimenti dei suoi compagni. Il pressing che chiede Klopp è molto alto in quanto i giocatori del Liverpool cercano di portare più uomini sul portatore di palla per bloccare e chiudere le linee di passaggio ed impedire la costruzione del gioco avversario, ripartire in contropiede per sfruttare la maggior rapidità dei propri giocatori.
In fase difensiva: quando il possesso palla degli avversari è sterile ciò permette alla squadra di Klopp di rientrare e schierarsi con un 4-5-1 con Coutinho e Mane abbassati sulla linea dei centrocampisti per rafforzare quindi il reparto difensivo.
In fase offensiva: la manovra è generalmente fluida ed è condita da un giro palla prettamente offensivo finalizzato alla ricerca di inserimenti alle spalle dei difensori. In fase di massima spinta solo la coppia di centrali difensivi accompagnata dal centrale di centrocampo, Henderson, resta a proteggere Mignolet; il resto dei giocatori cerca assiduamente un varco nei 25 metri dell’area avversaria.
In questa sessione estiva di calciomercato il Liverpool ha acquistato per una cifra intorno ai 40 Milioni il giocatore egiziano, Mohammed Salah che ricoprirà il ruolo di esterno offensivo per rafforzare la manovra d’attacco e facilitare i gol su inserimenti degli esterni.
